Alice Saadeh Obituary
Alice Ardath Saadeh died Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Gerstenberg Hospice Center in West Palm, FL. She was 96.
She was born August 11, 1917 in Mohawk, MI to Simon and Hilda (Dahlman) Hocking. A graduate of the Moody Bible Institute and the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing in IL, she accepted a nursing position in 1945 with Sudan Interior Missions in Ethiopia, where she met her future husband, William Saadeh. They were married February 22, 1947 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They later relocated to Wilmington, DE, where she was active in nursing, Bible studies and outreach through her church community while raising five children.
In 1982, she joined the Peace Corps with her husband and served as a community nurse in Antigua. At the conclusion of their assignment, she and her husband resided in Hanover, NH. They retired to Lake Worth, FL in 2009.
She is remembered as devoted to her family and her faith and was an intrepid traveler, circling the world with her husband. She was known for her smile, love of people and comforting manner.
She was predeceased by her son, David Saadeh of Wilmington, DE and is survived by her husband, William Saadeh of Lake Worth, FL; two sons, Samir Saadeh of Basking Ridge, NJ and William Saadeh of Lancaster, PA; and two daughters, Ruth Swing of West Palm Beach, FL and Faith Kuhn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will held Saturday, August 31 at 2PM at Hockessin Friends Cemetery, 1501 Old Wilmington Road, Hockessin, DE 19707.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Moody Bible Institute, 820 N. LaSalle Blvd., Chicago, IL 60610.

We would like to offer our condolences to Bill and the rest of the Saadeh family at the sad passing of Alice.. Having known Alice in Antigua and during visits to Wilmington, Hanover and Soest (our place) in the 1990s, we have been unable to meet for the last 20 years because we did not visit the US and lost contact, unfortunately. However, we have a vivid memory of Alice's exceptionally loving and caring personality .... and cooking skills. Was it a coincidence that we talked about Bill and Alice in late August for the first time since a long time and that I googled Saadeh to find out what may have happened to this great couple? We are happy that Bill is still alive and wish him lots of strength in the coming times. Rob and Ingeborg, Netherlands.

Long time friends from Limestone Acres. I remember fondly when the childlren of the neighborhood practiced Christmas carols in your home in preparation for singing around the neighborhood on Christmas Eve.
