Lloyd F. Lupfer

Lloyd graduated from Penn State University in 1954 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He played tuba and French horn in the Penn State Marching Blue Band and was a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity.

Lloyd went to work for Hercules in 1954 but was called to active duty within 6 months to the United States Air Force. He served for two years at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX, and left the service as a 1st Lieutenant. Lloyd married Beverly Jean Ross in April 1956, and returned to Hercules in 1957. He worked in Savannah, GA, Chicopee, MA, Savannah, GA, Wilmington, DE, Zwijndrecht, Holland, Wilmington, DE, Antwerp, Belgium, London, England, and Wilmington, DE. He retired from Hercules in July 1993. Since retirement, Lloyd has spent much of his time at his forest land in Perry County, PA, building a log cabin, installing a pond and stocking it with fish. Lloyd was active in the American Chestnut Foundation, Brandywine Pops Orchestra, Harrisburg, Savannah, and Wilmington Symphonies, and Wilmington Community Orchestra. His hobbies were skiing, hunting, fishing, and his passion for music.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly; children, David and his wife Daphne of New London, PA, Andrew and his wife Karen of York, PA, Amy Patterson and her husband Edward of Lexington, SC, and John and his wife Kerri of New London, PA; brother, Alan of Glen Bernie, MD; grandchildren, Sasha Ryan, Lauren Bailey, Patrick Reilly, Max Lupfer and Matthew Lupfer; and one great-grandson, Colton Ryan.

A service will be held on Wednesday September 11, at 2:30 pm at the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Boothwyn, 2655 Chichester Ave. Upper Chichester 19061. Friends are welcome at 2pm for visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Lloyd's name to the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Boothwyn to the above address, Penn State Alumni Marching Blue Band www.givenow.psu.edu or American Chestnut Foundation, 206 Forrest Resources Lab, University Park, PA 16802-4704.
