John P. "Jack" Micallef

John P. "Jack" Micallef, of Garnet Valley, PA., formerly of Carney's Point, NJ., passed away on December 22, 2013. Born in 1926, Jack retired as a Senior Safety Supervisor with E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. with 40 years experience at Carney's Point Works and Chambers Works.

After retirement, he formed SHARE, Inc., providing safety management consulting to Amtrak, Continental Airlines, Weyerhaeuser, and other multinational corporations. A Korean War-era veteran of the US Army, Jack was a lifelong supporter of the DuPont Veterans Association, and an original member of the Carney's Point Volunteer Fire Department. Jack was a dedicated volunteer to the St. James High School Fathers' Club, Corpus Christi Church, the YMCA, and the Penns Grove-Carney's Point Little League. Most recently, he was a member of the Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington, DE.

Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine (Gant), whom he met in first grade and wed the month after his discharge from the US Army. He is also survived by his children Joseph and Donna, Edward and Linda, Thomas and Shirley, James, and Mary; his grandchildren Jennifer, Melissa, Deanna, Christina, Sean, Heather, and Stephanie; and his great-grandchildren Brayden, Isabella, and Joseph. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Julia Micallef, his sister Maura Hanisch and his brother Gerald Micallef.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish - Corpus Christi RC Church, 369 Georgetown Rd., Carney's Point, NJ on Thursday December 26th from 9:30 to 11 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will follow at New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Swedesboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the .
