Robert F. Schilling, 90, of Wilmington, DE died on July 23, 2014 at home. Born to the late Gustave and Hilda Hyres Schilling in Manhatten, NY, he was raised in Long Island, NY and has resided the past 54 years in Wilmington, DE. Mr. Schilling was a veteran of the Army serving during WWII where he received the Purple Heart for his injury sustained while in Normandy, France. Mr. Schilling was a proud graduate of the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in economics with a minor in political science. He has served as a mentor for countless up and coming executives by designing cost systems for DuPont plants in the USA as well as Brazil. He was a Cost Accounting Specialist for the DuPont Company and Plant Accountant for the Scott Paper Eddystone Plant. Bob was a strong believer in Christ and the Christian Faith becoming a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Oak Orchard Riverdale American Legion, Post 28 in Millsboro, DE. He enjoyed football and was a New York Yankees and Giants Fan. He also enjoyed roller skating with his wife and was known as a staunch conservative Republican.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Burns Schilling who died in 2010; 2 brothers, Gustave and Arthur Schilling and a sister, Gloria Ortman. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly A. Schilling; nephews, Tom Schilling, Jim Ortman, Ken Ortman, their wives and families, along with his 2 nieces and their families, Susan Schilling and Carol Storm.
