1932-2015 William A. Simon William A. Simon of Norwood passed away on January 27, 2015 at the age of 82. He was the son of the late Joseph E. and Helen T. (nee Newcomb) Simon. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Men of Malvern. He coached baseball and football for the Norwood Boys Club. William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Macon. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and retired from Metcon Steel Plate Construction Company in Willow Grove. He also worked in the Media Court House in the Bench Warrant Division. William graduated from Widener College, Marian Council Knight of the Year 1979, Men of Malvern award of Merit June 2011. 1988 he was presented with a membership in the Legion of Honor by the Chapel of Four Chaplains. He was a Member of St Gabriel Parish in Norwood PA. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret M. Minner and his nephew Frederick Minner. Survivors: Beloved brother of Joseph F. Simon (Betty). Loving Uncle of John Minner (Lisa), Michael Minner (LeeAnn) and great nephews Johnny, Matthew (Courtney), Nicholas, Andrew, Billy and various aunts, uncles. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday after 9:00a.m. at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood followed by his funeral mass at 11:00a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, Mohawk Ave., Norwood. Viewing at Cavanagh's Monday eve from 7 to 9p.m. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Arthritis National Research Foundation, 200 Oceangate, Suite 830 Long Beach, CA 90802

1944-2015 Joyce Boyle Joyce Boyle, (Nee Thompson), age 70, of Woodlyn, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2015. Mrs. Boyle was born in Philadelphia to the late James and Edna Thompson. Joyce worked as a delivery driver for Incredibly Edible Delights and Norwood Florist before retiring in 2009. She liked to spend time with her grandson; she was active in the Wii bowling league at the School House Senior Center and loved to play bingo and the lottery. She had a love for crafting and floral arranging. She was also a devoted member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Norwood for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby boy, Frankie (Franklin) Keifer, and her loving husband of 30 years John E. Boyle. Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Tara (Mike) Page of Woodlyn, Pa.; her step-son, John Boyle III of Fla.; her grandchildren Shane, Kimberly, Karen, Nicole, and several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dolores (Frank) Murden of South Hampton, Pa., June Haentze of Cape May, N.J., and Edna Thompson of Media, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews, and very close friends. Memorial Service: Will be held in her honor on Monday, February 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074. Visitation: Will be on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Will be private. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693 would be appreciated.
