Wesley, John Anderson* - Springfield  
1937-2015 John Anderson Wesley, 78, of Springfield, a retired Sergeant of the Swarthmore Police Department, died Saturday, August 29, at Taylor Hospital Hospice after a long illness. In February, 1963, he was hired as a patrolman in the Swarthmore Police Department, and worked there 33 years until his retirement in October, 1996. He attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Wesley graduated in 1957 from Springfield High School and served in the 188th MP Company, U. S. Army, from December, 1960, to December, 1962. He was stationed in both San Francisco, at the Presidio, and in La Rochelle, France. A Life Member, he joined the Springfield Fire Company in 1957, and was elected to the Board of Directors from 1960-1969 and again in 1996-2005; he served as Secretary from 1969-1977 and Treasurer from 1977-1992. He was elected 2nd Assistant Fire Chief in 1963 and served until 1966, when he was elected 1st Assistant Fire Chief through 1968. He was Captain from 1968-1970. More recently, he served in the Fire Police Unit, holding the position of Captain from 1986-2006 and Chairman from 1983 to 1992. Prior to his death, he was again serving as Chairman of the Fire Police Unit. He was also a Life Member of the Springfield Ambulance Corps. In addition, Mr. Wesley joined Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association as an active member in January of 1979. He served as Director from 1983-1985 and Treasurer from 1994-1995. He transferred his membership from Active to Associate status in 1998. The members remember his being on the scene of the majority of emergency calls in one capacity or another. He was active with the camping activities of Cub Scout Pack 503 and Boy Scout Troop 503 when his sons were members. Mr. Wesley was a member of Saint Matthew Lutheran Church for 46 years, where he was an usher and served as Treasurer of the Sunday Bible School. For a number of years he worked as the sexton of the church after his retirement from the Police Department. He was an avid bowler with the Delco Police Bowling League for over 30 years and served many of those years as Treasurer of the organization. Mr. Wesley was a charter member of the Police Officers On Pension group. Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Jeannette “Jeff” Russel Wesley; sons John R., Steven and Gary; granddaughters Taylor, Madison, Patricia and Samantha; a sister Karen Reilly and nephews and nieces. A Resurrection Service will be held Saturday, September 5, at Noon, at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrooke Road, Springfield, PA 19064. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to Noon. Interment is private. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Saint Matthew Lutheran Church to the address above.

Wieghorst, Thomas F.* - Philadelphia  
1933-2015 Thomas F. Wieghorst, age 82, of Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Vitas Hospice at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas and Marion (nee Walter) Wieghorst. Mr. Wieghorst was a veteran of the Marine Corps, where he served as a drill sergeant. He was a proud member of Friends United. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Christina Basilio Ankney. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mafalda Basilio; his brothers-in-law, Rick (Diane) Basilio and Larry (Kathy) Basilio; and many nieces and nephews. Services and interment are private. 1967-2015 Meghan Powers Baker, 48, passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2015. Born April 23, 1967, she was raised in Rose Tree Media and attended St. Mary Magdalen School. Meghan was a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara’s class of 1985. She enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, NJ, as well as attending her children’s sporting events. She had a passion for helping others and loved her children and grandson very deeply. Meghan is predeceased by her mother, Anastasia Powers. She is survived by her children Andrew, Matthew, Sean, and Brittany; grandson Johnny; father Robert A. Powers Sr.; siblings Robert A. Powers Jr., Barry Powers, Johanna McLaughlin, Stasia Ciminera, Joseph Powers, Maura McCray, Kara Rafferty; former husband Craig Baker; long time companion David Huck Jones. Bower, Miriam E.* - Delaware County  
1921-2015 Miriam E. (nee Lee) Bower, age 94, a resident of Leedom Estates, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry W. Bower. Miriam was a devoted wife and mother. She is the loving mother of Linda Casertano of Secane, Pa. and Susan Sall and her husband, Martin, of Cherry Hill, N.J. Chambers, Eva Joy* - Trainer  
1926 - 2015 Eva Joy Chambers nee Tissot, age 89, passed on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 in Chadds Ford, PA. She was born in Allentown, PA, lived many years in Chester, PA, Cochranville, PA and Boothwyn, PA; most recently resided in Chadds Ford. She was an avid bowler, won a championship in 1982, belonged to the Resurrection Women's Club for many years, and loved spending time with her family. She worked for Harowe Servo Controls for 30 years, retiring in 2002. Eva is predeceased by her father Robert Tissot, her mother Doris Ward Tissot, her sister Nan Gehling, her husband Lorin Chambers, her son Steven Chambers, and her grandsons Robert, Thomas, and Jeffrey Chambers. Eva is survived by her sons, William Chambers (Cyndy) of Earleville, MD, Thomas Chambers of Reading, PA, John Chambers (Mary) of Boothwyn, PA, and Lawrence Chambers of Toby Farms, PA, her daughters, Maryann Oronzio (Gabe) of Oxford, PA, and Joann Kleschick (Joe) of Chadds Ford, PA, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Fithian, Mary T.* - Folcroft  
1932-2015 Mary T. Fithian, 82, of Folcroft passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 28, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late John H. Fithian. Mary enjoyed time spent with family and friends and vacationing in Ocean City, MD. She was also an avid reader and fan of the Phillies. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Mary (Bockius) Bertele and her beloved brother, Frederick “Freddy” M. Bertele. Mary was the devoted mother of Kathy Cook (David), Terry Powell, Sandy Piper and Mary DiVito. She is also survived by grandsons Jamie Cook, Zachary Driver, Benjamin Powell, Jared DiVito and sisters Kay Daly and Barbara DuBois (John). 1940-2015 Edward J. Grover, age 75, of Norwood passed away Friday, August 28, 2015. He worked as an auto mechanic until retiring from Lou's Auto Parts in Trainer, PA. He is predeceased by his wife Rose Marie Grover, grandson Daryl Pitts and granddaughters Catherine R. and Skylar R. Grover. Survivors: beloved husband of Sarah E. Haday, RoseAnn M.* - Aston  
1934-2015 RoseAnn M. Haday (Curay), 81, of Aston died Aug. 27, 2015 at The Belvedere Center. Born in Media, PA, RoseAnn graduated from Notre Dame High School. A woman of deep faith, she believed in her Prayer to St. Anthony to find things and was devoted to The Infant of Prague and the Rosary. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph where she sang in the choir for several years. Mrs. Haday retired from the Penn-Delco School District where she worked for more than 20 years as a one-on-one classroom aide with Special Education students. RoseAnn was the wife of 44 years to the late Eugene "Mike" Haday. They made their home in Aston ever since they married in 1955. Together they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, traveling, casinos, and dancing. Watching them jitterbug or polka was incredible. We can only imagine what Dancing with the Stars in Heaven will be like for these two! Known as "Mrs. Haday" and 'Mom-Mom" to everyone, she was a beautiful, gentle, loving, and giving woman, devoted to her family who meant the world to her. She especially enjoyed preparing ethnic foods for family gatherings. Her specialties included kielbasa and sauerkraut, pierogies from KYJ's bakery, potato pies, apple pies, apple cakes, and Christmas cookies. For her children and grandchildren, she was the #1 fan; always present at sporting events, musicals, concerts, and dance recitals. And, she was a Phillies Phanatic. Chase Utley was her all-time favorite player and no game was complete without a Dairy Queen Buster Bar in hand for the first pitch. She will be greatly missed by all who couldn't help but love her. Survivors: Her loving children Mary Beth (Bruce), Judi (Larry), Mickey, Bernadette, and John; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her God-children Lois, Vaune, and Brenda; her sisters Aggie and Lena; sister-in-law and life-long friend Marian; favorite niece "Our Terry"; special friend and neighbor Mitzy; brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. Horne, John W.* - Trainer  
1952-2015 John W. Horne, age 63, of Linwood, PA died peacefully on August 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chester, PA, he was a lifelong resident of Linwood. A graduate of Chichester High School class of 1970, he was known by his friends as "Jaybird". He has been employed by Congoleum for 21 years as a Coater Operator. John was a member of the NRA, he enjoyed hunting, boating, crabbing, the outdoors and yardwork and was known as a Back Yard Mechanic. In addition to his parents, Wesley and Pearl Tufts Horne, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Wothers Horne, and a sister, Nancy Green. He is survived by his sons, Blair (Jamie) Horne and Robert (Adrienne) Horne, brothers, Wesley "Duke" Horne, twins, Ronald and Donald Horne and James Horne, sisters, Linda McGinnis and Beverly Phillip, 4 grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Ariana and Colton and many nieces and nephews.
