Daniel J. DiCocco

Daniel J. DiCocco, 80 Former Collingdale resident, Elevator Mechanic Daniel J. DiCocco, 80, a resident of Collingdale for 25 years and later Garnet Valley, who worked in the Elevator Industry for 43 years, died February 19 after an 18 month battle against lung disease. Mr. DiCocco was born at home in West Philadelphia, attended St. Donato's grade school and St. Thomas More High School. He was employed in the Elevator Industry, most recently with Thyssen-Krupp in King of Prussia until his retirement in 2008. He was a former member of Local # 5, International Union of Elevator Constructors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 40 years. He was a past President of the Collingdale Athletic Club and former BSA Cubmaster of Pack 288. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans and a past member of St. Joseph's Church, Collingdale where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and currently, a member of St. John Fisher Parish. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was the husband of 46 years to the late Gloria (Helm) DiCocco Loving father of the late Anita L. (DiCocco) Hamill. He was the brother of the late Connie (nee DiCocco) and William Hines, Joseph DiCocco, and Brothers-in-Law Samuel Ieronimo and Ted Dotson. Survivors: Loving father of Daniel C. DiCocco (Wanda) and Theresa M. Shockley (Jack); Son-in-Law Robert E Hamill; adoring grandfather of Kevin R., Ryan E., Jason D., and Kristen L. Hamill; Daniel C. Jr. and Dominic P. DiCocco; and David J. and Gregory J. Wingender; great-grandfather of Casey Hamill, brother of Mary Ieronimo and Anne Dotson. Also Loving Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
