David W. Douglas Sr.

David W. Douglas, Sr., Vietnam Veteran & Veteran's Advocate David W. Douglas, Sr., 68, of Drexel Hill, died Jan.24th at the Hospital of the University of PA. Born in New York City, he grew up in Delaware County and graduated from Upper Darby High School. During the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, served 10 years, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Douglas worked at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center for over 20 years and retired as Chief of the Medical Media Service. After his retirement from the VA, he devoted the rest of his life to helping veterans. He was employed as a benefits counselor at the Veterans' Multi-Service and Education Center in Phila. and was an active member of the VVA (Vietnam Veterans of American) and the Upper Darby Detachment of the Marine Corps League. A loving and devoted family man, David enjoyed surf fishing and working on and driving "The Truck". Survivors: His wife of 31 years, Diane (nee Falcone) Douglas; his children, Lori Graff, Katie, David W. Jr., and Jon; grandchildren, Isabelle and Jack Graff; brothers, Tait (Louise), Bob (Bert Marie) Douglas; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Joel. Services: Funeral Service will be 10a.m., Sat., at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA, where family and friends may call 5-8p.m., Fri eve or 9-10a.m., Sat. Burial: will be private.
