James J. Carroll

James J. Carroll James J. Carroll, of Springfield, PA died at home on April 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Jim grew up in Saint Monica's parish in South Philadelphia was a member of the Markward Basketball club. Jim received the James "Brud" McConnell Memorial Award in 2002 from the Philadelphia Basketball "Old Timers" Association for his play in the Philadelphia Industrial Basketball leagues. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Japan following World War II. Jim was the owner of Cascar Data. He was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Carroll; his brothers William and Tommy Carroll and his sisters Elizabeth Boothman, Margaret Carroll and Helen Dooner. Survivors: Jim was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (nee O'Malley) Carroll with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Jim and Pat raised their family in the Briarcliffe section of Glenolden. He was the devoted father of Patricia Carroll-Grant (Pat) of Rehoboth Beach, DE, James (Patty) of Springfield, PA Joanne Everhart (Grant) of West Chester, PA Peggy McGraw (Kevin) of Morton, Maureen Carroll of Springfield, PA and Thomas (Jennifer) of West Chester, PA. He was a loving Pop to 17 grandchildren: Caitlin, Kelsey and Tricia Grant, Kathleen and Kelly Carroll, Casey and Maddy Gilligan and Michael Everhart, Kevin, Brian and Maura McGraw, Megan, Mallory and Matthew Bendyna, Alexa Fox and Katie and William Cooper Carroll.
