Michael Samuel Gallela Jr.

Michael Samuel Gallela, Jr. Michael Samuel Gallela, Jr., 71, of Carlisle, formerly of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at home with family. Born September 4, 1941, he grew up in Harrisburg and was a son of the late Michael Samuel, Sr. and Pauline Gallela. He was a U. S. Navy veteran seeing action during the Bay of Pigs invasion. After graduating from St. Francis University, he was awarded an assistantship with West Virginia University. After college, Michael relocated to Delaware County and married his wife, Patricia Ann Leach. He was employed as a sales representative for Sun Oil. He remained a sales manager in the industry for over thirty years until his retirement. Michael enjoyed vacations in Wildwood, flea markets, collecting sports cards and memorabilia, and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a genuine love for people and had a warm smile and infectious laugh that would brighten anyone's day. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 25 years, Patricia Gallela. Survivors: His three children, Michael S. Gallela III, Shannon Mattaboni, and Patricia Ann Tartaglia; a brother, Francis Gallela a sister, Judymarie Gallela; eight grandchildren, Justin, Christian, Michael, Timothy, Donnie, Zachary, Logan, and Isabella; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
