Theodore Anderson Sr.

Theodore "Spoatie" Anderson, Sr., 83 Theodore "Spoatie" Anderson, Sr., age 83, of Chester, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2013, at his home. Born in Chester, Pa. to the late Silas Anderson and Daisy (nee Brooks) Anderson. Theodore was a graduate of Dowingtown Private School in Dowingtown, Pa., and worked as a lifeguard in the recreation department for the city of Chester. Spoatie played in the Negro Amateur Baseball League in the 40's and 50's representing Chester. He later went into Boxing and boxed in The Amateur Boxing League. Theodore was an army veteran of World War II where he received the World War II Victory Medal and The Army of Occupation Medal. In addition to his parents, Theodore was also pre-deceased by his sons John "Smudge", Kenneth "Gun", and Andrew 'Chico", and his grandson Theodore Anderson III. Survivors: His wonderful memory will be cherished by his children: Arnita Dingle (Curtis), Iris Jones (Percy), and Theodore Anderson Jr. (Romona), 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, cousins who were very dear the him: Bernice Cheers, and Preston Pierce (Marie), host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends. Services: Saturday, February 16, 2012, 10:00 am, at St. Luke Community Christian Church, 4th Street and Central Ave., Chester. Viewing: 8:00- 10:00 am. No viewing after the eulogy.
