Lorre Delmar Jackson

Lorre Delmar Jackson , 72 A Community Organizer Lorre Delmar Jackson, 72, of Chester, passed away on December 24, 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the son of Mrs. Emily Charlton Jackson and the late James L.B. Jackson. Mr. Jackson was born in Chester and raised in the Woodlyn section of Ridley Twp. where he attended Ridley Twp. Public Schools and graduated from Ridley Twp. in 1957. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Philadelphia and was previously employed by the Philadelphia Housing Authority as a City Housing Inspector. He was a member of the Chester Senior Center and a Booster for the Passyunk Community in liaison with all of the sports organizations in Philadelphia. Lorre was a community organizer and worked with the Temple University Neighborhood Extension Program. He loved doing anything that involved children. He was a pioneer in the development of Rev. Leon Sullivan's OIC Adult Armchair Education Program. He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him in his many endeavors. He was predeceased by his father James L. B. Jackson; 4 brothers Ronald, Richard, Orrell and Bernard Jackson; 1 sister Betty Jackson Allen. Survivors: He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Emily Charlton Jackson of Folsom; 1 son Lorre Malik Jackson of Philadelphia; 1 sister Irma Mason (John) of Boothwyn, PA; his only surviving Aunt Venera B. Casson; a dear friend Ron Howard; a host of other relatives and friends.
