Dr. Louis Wm. Martini

Dr. Louis Wm. Martini, 86, of Springfield, PA, and Naples, FL, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 4, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
He was a dedicated physician who cared for his loyal patients for over 40 years until he retired due to poor health.
Dr. Martini was the first baby born in Shamokin, PA at 12:05 A.M. on New Year's Day in 1930 to the late James and Antoinette Martini.
He was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania State University, Cornell Graduate School, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. While at Penn State Dr. Martini became a Brother at the Omega Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.
Upon graduation he launched a private medical practice in Upper Darby, where he became Board Certified in Family Practice and where he became a Fellow of the American College of General Practitioners. He did everything for his patients from delivering their babies to being there to comfort them at the end of their lives. Several of the children that he delivered were inspired by his example and became physicians themselves. He also practiced Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery with the prominent physician Dr. C. Paul Snyder of Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia.
He did volunteer work and was proud to have been chosen as a lifetime member of The Chapel of the Four Chaplains, who specifically recognizes those who render service to their community above and beyond their call.
Dr. Martini enjoyed traveling with his family to Hawaii, the Caribbean, and regularly attended the International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico to experience the thrill of going aloft with hundreds of balloonists from all over the world.
In 1957, he married the love of his life Charlene (nee Cornell) and they were the proud parents of Lorri Ann Martini and Louis Wm. Martini Jr., Esquire (Patti).
They had one grandson, Brandyn Fitzpatrick, son of Lorri Ann.
He is predeceased by his brother, James Martini (Eloise).
While attending Central High he resided with his beloved Aunts, the Gedman sisters, Agnes, Anna, Emily and Sr. Camillus Marie Gedman, RSM who also predecease him.
The things he loved most in life were his family and watching Penn State football as coached by his good friend, Joe Paterno, and watching God's beautiful sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico with his wife by his side at their homes in Naples, FL and in Longport, NJ.
He loved to laugh and would tell his good friends the following: "Remember me with joy and laughter or don't remember me at all…."
The family would like to thank the staff at the Abramson Cancer Center, 4th Floor West for all of their compassionate care and professionalism.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Tuesday, February 9th at 10:00am followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 in St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA 19064. Burial will be private.
