George F. Farley Sr.

George F. Farley, Sr., age 86, George F. Farley, Sr., age 86 of Bryn Mawr, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on March 13, 2013. Born and raised in South Philly, he was a member of the drum & bugle corps as a young man. He participated in the Mummers parades and was a loyal fan his entire life. He loved the Eagles and held season tickets for many years. A big Phillies fan; he rarely missed watching a game. George was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theater as a radio operator aboard the USS Hamul. He took part in the Battle of Okinawa. He was a long time member of American Legion Post 214 in Upper Darby. He also volunteered at the Wilkes-Barre VA Hospital. He worked as a pipefitter for Westinghouse for 35 years, before retiring in 1987. He was a dedicated family man who was quick with a joke and lit up the room with his smile. Pre-deceased by his adoring wife Frances T. Farley (nee Derr), his parents Veronica and Fred, brothers Fred and Albert and grandson baby Robert. Survivors: Beloved father of Veronica Martin, George Farley Jr., Gregory Farley (Dorothy), Anne Thompson (Wayne) and Lynne Farley England; loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
