Alonzo T. Harding Jr. Obituary
Alonzo T. Harding, Jr., 93 Alonzo T. Harding, Jr., 93 of Aldan, PA, formerly of Lansdowne, died June 22, 2014 at Crozer Keystone Hospice Residence. Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in Lansdowne for 55 years before moving to Aldan, where he lived the past 14 years. Al was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and had worked for Philadelphia Electric, now Exxlon, retiring as a Supervisor after 40 years. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Chief Petty Officer 3rd class during his Navy career serving mainly on the USS Charles J. Kimmel. Al and his wife, the late Della (nee Needles) Harding, had visited 49 states missing only Alaska. They had also visited Europe, Russia and several other countries over the years. For many years they spent summers in Brigantine, NJ and South Pasadena, Florida in the winter. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, visiting racetracks and was an avid coupon clipper. Survivors: His children Miriam A. Coppock of Aldan; Alonzo T. (Barbara) Harding III of West Grove, Edward L. (Dianne) Harding of Aldan, and Dennis J. (Louanne) Harding of Willow Street , PA. 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and his sister in law Audrey Needles also survive. Funeral Mass: Friday, 10 a.m., St. Philomena Church, Baltimore & Highland Aves., Lansdowne. Visitation: Family and friends may visit Thursday eve, 7-9 p.m. and Friday, 8:30-9:30 a.m. at DOYLE-STONELAKE FUNERAL HOME, 85 E. Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne. Int.: SS Peter & Paul Cem. In lieu of flowers: Contributions to Crozer Keystone Hospice Residence, 175 E. Chester Pike, Ridley Park, PA 19078 or ALS Assn., 399 Market St., Phila., PA 19106, would be greatly appreciated.
