Barbara Jean Bollinger

1921 - 2014

Barbara Jean Bollinger (nee Hampel) Barbara Jean Bollinger (nee Hampel), 92 years old, passed away on January 3, 2014 as a result of liver cancer. Formerly a Lansdowne and Havertown resident, she resided at Lima Estates, Media, PA at the time of her death. Born April 3, 1921 in East Lansdowne, PA to F. Joseph and Barbara Hampel. Barbara graduated from Lansdowne High School and attended Rosemont College. She was a ballet dancer with the Philadelphia LaScala Opera and continued to be involved with dance by founding her own school of dance and choreographing musicals for Lansdowne High School. She married World War 2 veteran, Richard H. Bollinger and had two children, Richard H. Bollinger, Jr. and MaryLouise Bollinger Tindall. Barbara was employed for many years at Clifton Precision, General Electric, and in later years, was a teaching assistant for the William Penn School District. She volunteered with the Lansdowne Food Pantry and Secret Garden Gift Shop to benefit The Garden Church in Lansdowne. For many years she was a member of St. Johns Episcopal church in Lansdowne and more recently became a member of Grace Chapel in Havertown. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Bollinger, Sr., parents F. Joseph and Barbara Hampel, brother, Frank Hampel and grandson, Scott Bollinger. Survivors: Son, Richard H. (Patricia Pope) Bollinger, Jr. of West Chester, PA, daughter MaryLouise Bollinger (Marty) Tindall of Columbus, OH, six grandchildren, Lauren (Bob) Wright, Holly (Ryan) Tewell, Christopher Bollinger, Timothy (Stacey) Tindall, Adam (Kelli) Tindall, Briana Tindall, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 nephews, Paul (Susan) Hampel, David (Karen) Hampel. Services: Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, January 11, 2:30 p.m., at Lima Estates, 411 N. Middletown Rd. Media, PA 19063. You may greet the family between 1:30 and 2:30 or after the service. In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
