Catherine Hosmer Obituary

Catherine H. Hosmer, 87 Catherine Hosmer was loved by everyone who knew her. Died October 31, 2012. She was born in Haverford but lived most of her adult life in her home in Media where she had two sons, William, 62, and Edwin Harvey, 58. The tragic accidental death of her first husband, William (Bill) Harvey, left her a single mom until she met and married John (Jack) Hosmer, who succumbed to ALS in 1998. Together they raised their daughter, Kathleen, 46. Over the years she became a special grandmother to Emma, 23, Hans, 20, Michael, 13, Wayne, 9, and a great-grandmother to Shane, 9. She was a bookkeeper, homemaker, churchgoer, and friend to those she met. Paul Titter is the last survivor of her six brothers. She was loved and respected by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and all the spouses who joined her family. Catherine's funeral service will take place at the First United Methodist Church, State & Lemon Streets, Media, PA. Visitation is 10 to 11 AM followed immediately by a church service. Interment will be at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA, where she will rest between her two husbands. In lieu of flowers please go out for a special dinner with your family and remember Catherine fondly. Arr: Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home.

I loved Catherine. She was one of the sweetest people I knew. I cleaned for her and we had some lovely conversations. She even invited me over for Thanksgiving dinner right before she passed. God rest her beautiful soul.

I WANT TO SEND MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY. I WAS SO UPSET WHEN I HEARD THE TRAGIC NEWS. YOUR MOTHER WAS THE SWEETEST AND KINDEST PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. I USE TO SEE HER ONLY ONCE A MONTH AND I LOOKED FORWARD GOING OVER TO HER HOME AND SHE WOULD GREET ME WITH A SMILE AND A HUG, AND WHEN I WOULD LEAVE SHE WOULD STAND BY THE DOOR AND WAVE UNTIL I WAS OUT OF SIGHT. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT MY MOTHER USE TO DO. YOUR MOTHER WAS SUCH A SWEET AND GENTLE LADY. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT HER FAMILY IS GOING THROUGH. SHE IS AT PEACE NOW AND SURELY IS SMILING DOWN ON US FROM HEAVEN.

Aunt Catherine was very kind and thoughtful. I will always remember how gracious she was and the way she welcomed me into the family many, many years ago. May her devout faith in the Lord bring you strength and hope in the days ahead.
