Edgar Griffin Reed

Edgar Griffin Reed, 88, of Honey Brook, PA, long time resident of Media, PA, passed away on August 19, 2013 at the Meadows Health Care Center at the Tel Hai Retirement Community. He was born to the late Edgar Griffin Reed and Margaret Gertrude Ryan, on November 8, 1924, in Sharon Hill, PA. He attended Sharon Hill High School and entered the United States Navy in 1941 during WWII. He received a bachelors degree in Physical Education from the West Chester State Teachers College and a masters degree in education from Temple University. He married Dorothy Yates in 1953, and they lived in Sharon Hill before moving to Media in 1956. He was a lifelong athlete having played tennis for almost 50 years, slowing down only after succumbing to Alzheimer's disease.
Survivors: His wife of 60 years, Dorothy Yates Reed, and two children, Jean Reed (John) McNealis, of Coatesville, PA, and Edgar Yates Reed, of Wheat Ridge, CO.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, 10:30 AM, from the Chapel of the Tel Hai Retirement Community, 3100 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, Pa., with Chaplain Tim Herr officiating. Interment: will be private at the convenience of the family.
