Eileen Conway Mercadante

Eileen Conway Mercadante, age 85 Eileen Conway Mercadante, age 85, of Middletown Township, Media, PA, died at home Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in the loving embrace of her devoted family and friends. She had waged a gallant and courageous fight, of four years, against pulmonary fibrosis. Eileen was a 1946 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a 1949 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Wilmington, DE. Eileen practiced nursing at Doctors Hospital in Washington, DC and later worked as the OR Supervisor and in maternity service at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. She also worked at Wallingford Nursing Home and Workman Circle Home, Media, PA. Eileen was an active member of the Church of Our Lady of Charity, Brookhaven, PA, where she was a member of the senior citizen's group and the Charitians. Eileen enjoyed traveling, casinos and was an enthusiastic Phillies fan. A compassionate and caring person, she most of all enjoyed her family and friends. Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Eileen will be greatly missed and eternally remembered by her loving family and friends. Eileen was pre-deceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth Boyd Conway; brothers, Vincent and Eugene Conway; nephews, Vincent, Jr. and Lawrence Conway. Survivors: Husband: Joseph Mercadante; Sons: Stephen (Maureen), Jerry (Carolyn), Lawrence (Caroline) and Colin (Abir) Mercadante; Grandchildren: Maleana, Andrew, Rowyn, Croy, Michael, Matthew, Elizabeth and Christina and Nieces: Arlene Humphrey, Nancy Luffleholtz and Ellen Taub. Funeral Mass: Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA Visitation: Sunday, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp, Media, PA and Monday, 9:30- 10:30 a.m., at the church.
