Elizabeth Margerum Obituary

Elizabeth 'Betty' Osterhout Margerum Elizabeth 'Betty' Osterhout Margerum, born December 26, 1929 in Philadelphia, passed away on May 30, 2013. Married 46 years to the late William B. Margerum, IV. Betty was a Media resident for the past 50 years. She graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1947 and later studied Art at Lockhaven State College. Betty was a devoted employee at County Press Newspapers for 31 years, where she retired as the Associate Editor just last year. In her free time, she was a long-time member of the Tuscarora Lapidary Society and won many awards for her stones and jewelry. She also loved to garden and travel anywhere with her favorite place being Plevna, Ontario. She always had a young spirit and was a true example of 'age is only a state of mind'. Predeceased by brother Donald P. Osterhout, Jr., sister Anne E. Chandler, brother-in-law Bud Chandler, son David Margerum, and daughter Tamara Lee Margerum. Survivors: Daughter Patricia Margerum, nephew Keith Chandler, niece Lee Anne Chandler, sister-in-law Trudi Osterhout and Osterhout nieces and nephew; Susan, Patti, and Peter. Services: Will be held a Media Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 12th, with visiting at 10:00 and Memorial Service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers: Please make donations to Juvenile Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society. Arr.: Rigby Harting & Hagan F.H.

Betty was a special woman. Her talents were many, and she took great pride when she won awards for her jewelry displays. I believe her motto in life was a line from "Annie Get Your Gun -- Anything you can do, I can do better . . . " She truly will be missed. RIP, Betty.
