Fran was vey kind to me, in a milieu where kindness was at a premium. Most importantly, he laughed with me. I wish I´d known more Fran Straumans.

Franny, our short time together at the Junior Novitiate brings back many memories. You were a perfect roll model for me and I'm sure many more after. RIP my friend.

Maria,
Words can't express my sorrow on hearing this news. Dave and I send our deepest condolences to you, Maura and all the members of Fran's family and remember all of you in our prayers.

Dear Maria and Maura,
My prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Fran had his purgatory here on earth as he bravely suffered through all the medical procedures. Now he's singing with the Heavenly Band. Love, Judi Burns

Dear members of the Strauman family:
I was sorry to hear of the death of your dear husband, father, and brother Fran Strauman, whom I knew when he was studying with the Christian Brothers some 47 years ago. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my father in 1995, am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all the Brothers at St. Mary's Hall.
May the Lord continue to hold you and all your family in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence, in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help you.
I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:
May the angels lead him into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome him on his way
And lead him into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome him.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May he have everlasting life. Amen.
I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years: Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.
With sympathy and promise of prayers, Your Brother, Brother Robert Wilsbach, FSC

Dear Maria and family, Fran's light will continue through prayers and good thoughts of his many friends. His St. John's music will always be remembered and appreciated.
