Gordon McLean Obituary

Gordon G. McLean Police Dispatcher/Glazier Gordon G. McLean, 87, died on November 28, 2012 at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA. Born in Haverford, PA, Mr. McLean was a graduate of Haverford High School. He was employed by McCrossan Glass Co. in Springfield for many years and later Trimm Glass in Media. He was also a dispatcher for the Springfield Police Department. In his later years he served as an assistant at the Kovacs Funeral Home in Springfield for many year. Mr. McLean was a Army veteran of W.W. II where he served in the European Theater. A resident of Springfield for over 55 years, he was a longtime member of the Blue Church in Springfield where he served as an usher and a trustee for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Springfield Ambulance Corp. where he served as president. While an active member for over 25 years, he performed over 3,000 ambulance runs. Mr. McLean also served as a girls' softball coach for the Springfield Athletic Association and as trainer for the Springfield Hockey Club. He also volunteered as a cub scout leader. He was an avid golfer. He was committed to serving others, whatever their need. He was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors: 2 sons Alan G. McLean of Devon, PA and David G. McLean of Drexel Hill, PA; 2 daughters Susan L. Molitoris of West Grove, PA and Barbara Grotyohann of GA; 1 brother Ivan McLean of VA; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by his wife of 63 years, Janice T. McLean in September 2012. Visitation/Service: Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday December 3rd after 6 PM at the Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc., 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064; also viewing on Tuesday December 4th at the funeral home after 9:30 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11:30 AM. Dear Sue, Steve & family,
I was so sorry to hear of Gordy's passing. He was such a wonderful man! He was like a Father to me for many years after the passing of my own Dad. He will always be in my heart! You are all in my thoughts and pratyers.

Dear Sue, Steve & family,
I was heartbroken to hear of Gordy's passing! For many years while working with him at Trimm glass he was like a Father to me after my own Father's passing. I thought of him often and wondered how he was. What an amazing good man he was! He will be greatly missed! My heart goes out to all of you.
