Joe Davis Obituary
Joe Davis, age 94, of Chester, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Rolan Davis and Ivar Gwynn Davis and was educated in the schools there. Joe was a member of Grace Community United Methodist Church in Chester where he was an usher. He was also a member of The Usher's Association of Chester a and Vicinity. Joe served in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 1 bronze service star, and good conduct medal. Joe retired from Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company where he worked as a supervisor. Widower of Allie Jean Silver Davis, he was also predeceased by his daughter, Marba Gwynn Davis.
Survivors: His wonderful memory will forever be in the hearts of his children: Merzie Wayne Davis (Janice), Phillip N. Davis (Diane), Jo Ann Davis, and Daphne Gail Davis, caregiver: Anthony Goode, Sr., brother: Kelvin Davis (Regina), 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren 1 great-great grandchild, many other relatives and friends.
Service: Saturday, April 12, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Grace Community United Methodist Church, 12th Street & Central Ave., Chester
Viewing: 8:00 a.m- 9:00 a.m. No viewing after the eulogy. Usher's service will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Entombment: Lawn Croft Cemetery - Linwood
