John J. Lavin, 68 John J. Lavin, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 4, 2012 after a year long courageous battle with cancer. Oldest son of the late Joseph J. and Dolores H. Lavin (nee Lake). He was a 1962 graduate of St James High School and served his country honorably as a Marine earning a gold star for combat missions in Vietnam. John was employed for 28 years by Acme Markets and after retirement enjoyed working as a Golf Ranger at the Springfield Country Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. John's most beloved positions were as husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a model for living old-fashioned values, earning the love and respect of family and friends John was pre-deceased by parents Joseph and Dolores Lavin (nee Lake); siblings Joseph Lavin Jr, Susan Bannon and Maria Galofaro. Survivors: His wife of 43 years Susan; son John J. Lavin Jr. of West Chester; daughter Stacy V. Lavin of Pennsauken, NJ; brothers Thomas (Irene) Lavin of Glassboro, NJ and Charles (Robin) Lavin of Glenolden, PA; sisters Patricia (Ron) Erle of Glenolden, PA and Ellen (Joe) Graham of Folcroft, PA; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and countless friends. Calling: Friends may call at the Carr Funeral Home, 935 S. Providence Rd. (Rt. 320), Wallingford Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 10 AM St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. 1500 Glen Ave., Folcroft where friends may call from 9 AM. Interment Immaculate Heart Cemetery.
