John Murphy Obituary

John T. Murphy Irish Rover John T. Murphy died December 13, 2013 at the age of 66. He was a longtime resident of Prospect Park. John was predeceased by his parents John W. and Mary (nee McGrew) Murphy. John especially enjoyed 20 years of Irish cruises. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed with SEPTA for 30 years as an electrician. Survivors: Dear brother of Grace Mile of Lewes, DE and Margaret Finkbiner of Philadelphia. His nephew Christopher Mile, nieces Kimberly Jones, Jennifer Reese and his great niece and nephews. Service: Relatives & friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday eve, 7-9p.m. and Saturday, after 10:30a.m., at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. His Memorial Service will follow at 11:30a.m. Burial: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers: Memorial contributions to Delaware Co. SPCA, 555 Sandy Bank Rd., Media PA 19063.

John was always a true Irish Gentleman. Everytime I hear irish music I think of John. I will miss him at Irish weekend.

I had the pleasure and honor to work with "Murph" at SEPTA. He was truly liked by everybody and will be missed. My condolences to his family. The picture is from his retirement in 2009.

So sorry for your loss and our loss in the Irish community.

I'll miss John's kindness and enjoyment of the 20+ cruises we did together. His was always the first Christmas card or Birthday card I received each year. We'll drink a toast to his memory in February at sea.
