Obituary Condolences

John Anthony Nagy Former Springfield Resident John Anthony Nagy, 78, died on November 30, 2012 at his home in Georgetown, SC after a lengthy illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Nagy was the only child of John M. and Irene E. Nagy. He attended Springfield High School where he played football and baseball. He graduated in (1952). He was offered a football scholarship to Villanova University but was injured on the field his freshman year. He switched to the baseball team where he was a pitcher and lettered for four years before graduating in 1956 with a B.S in Economics. Mr. Nagy was employed for 39 years with Springs Industries (Springmaid Textiles) until his retirement in 1995. He resided in Plano, TX from 1980-1995 and later resided in Georgetown, SC for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corp where he served from 1957 to 1959. Mr. Nagy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Georgetown, SC. He served on the Board of the Tidelands Hospice as well as the Board of DeBordieu Property Owners Association in Georgetown, SC. He was also a member of the Georgetown County Board of Elections. Mr. Nagy enjoyed fishing, boating, and the beach. Survivors: His wife Peggy (nee Thompson) Nagy of Georgetown, SC; 3 sons Michael (Alyson) Nagy, Robert (Kriszta Lauer) Nagy, and Kirk (Syndi) Nagy; 4 grandchildren John Michael, Olivia Helen, Jacob Matthew and Nickolas Scott Nagy. Pre-deceased by his first wife Helen (Ventresca) Nagy in 1989. Visitation: Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday December 5th 7 to 9 PM at the Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc., 530 W. Woodland Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064. They are also invited to his funeral Mass on Thursday, December 6, at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Donations in his memory may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 1139 N.
