Katherine Marie Goldberg Obituary
Katherine Marie (nee Muratore) Goldberg Of Drexel Hill, PA Katherine Marie (nee Muratore) Goldberg, died Friday, November 30th, 2012 at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience in Philadelphia from complications following surgery for brain cancer. Kathy was born January 2, 1951 in Palermo, Sicily, to Charles and Anna Muratore. She grew up in South Philadelphia, attending Kirkbride Elementary School. Her family moved to Drexel Hill where she attended St. Andrew School and then the Upper Darby School District, graduating in 1968. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1972. Kathy remained in Washington, DC, working for various non-profit organizations, when she met Franklin Goldberg of New York, to whom she was married in 1980. Kathy and Franklin lived in Drexel Hill the remainder of her life. She gave birth to Matthew in 1980 and Joanna in 1985. She was a devoted, loving mother, always dedicating her life to her children above all others, staying home with them until they began school. Once her children were enrolled at St. Andrew School, Kathy resumed working as a legal secretary and paralegal for several law firms in Media, PA. She also worked briefly (and begrudgingly) with her husband at Electro Science Laboratories in King of Prussia, PA. Kathy was a devoted homemaker, accomplished cook and avid vacation planner. Her favorite vacation destinations included Bethany Beach, Delaware and Walt Disney World. Kathy was diagnosed with brain cancer two weeks prior to her death. She suffered minimally, and her family and friends are grateful for each day spent with her. She will be remembered as a passionate woman with a Sicilian temper, love of culinary arts and insatiable appetite for online shopping. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother and sister, her family being the truest passion of her life. Survived by her beloved husband of 32 years Franklin; son Matthew (Katie); daughter Joanna; grandson Charlie; brother Frank Muratore. Visitation: Friends are invited to celebrate Kathy's life with her family at her home in Drexel Hill, Sunday, December 9th from 1 PM onward. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Brain Tumor Association in her memory are appreciated. Arr: Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington Cemetery Online Condolences: www.arlingtoncemetery.us
