Lawrence W. Berkheimer "Larry" Larry Berkheimer, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2013 after a brief illness. Larry was born and raised in Pennsylvania and recently resided in Delaware. Larry worked for many companies throughout his career. He served in the Marine Corp from 1956 to 1961, then worked at Greif Brothers along side his father and brother until beginning his career as a Merchant Seaman for Sun Transport in 1965. He worked on every Sun vessel and on several barges caring crude oil and products as he sailed from Panama to Portugal and Alaska to Italy. He served several years as a Bos'n and was a true veteran of the sea during his 35 year career. After retirement, he also enjoyed working part-time for Enterprise Rental Cars and spending time with his family. Larry was predeceased by his loving wife Joan with whom he shared 49 years of marital bliss. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Mary Berkheimer, his sister Sally Synder and his brother Jimmy Berkheimer. Survivors: Larry will forever be in the hearts of his children, George W. Mann, Jr. (Valerie) of Milton DE, Kathy Fryman (Ed) of Earleville MD, Sheila Calhoun of Smyrna DE, Edward Berkheimer (Joyce) of Brookhaven PA, Michelle Lind (Jamie) of Newark DE, Christopher Berkheimer, Mark Berkheimer, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and surrogate daughter, Laura Levine. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Berkheimer (Nancy) and a host of nieces, nephews and foster children. Services: Services to celebrate Larry's life will be private and at the convenience of his family. The family finds comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad are back together again.
