Lucille Gosner Obituary

Lucille J. Gosner (nee D'Agostino), 78 Haverford Township On Saturday morning, 15 September 2012, after battling a protracted illness, she passed away peacefully while a patient resident at Bryn Mawr Terrace, Bryn Mawr, PA. She had last been a resident of Haverford Township, PA near West Merion Golf Course for Forty years. She was born in Philadelphia, and was baptized "Lucille Julia Maria D'Agostino." She graduated Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School in Overbrook, and West Philadelphia Catholic High School. She received her registry degree in Medical Technology in connection with the University of Pennsylvania. She married Robert M. Gosner, Sr., in December 1955, at Presentation BVM Catholic Church, in Wynnewood, PA. For over Thirty years, she held various supervisory and management positions in the clinical laboratory division of Mercy Catholic Medical Center until her retirement in year 2000. During her lifetime, she was asked by her relatives to be a Godmother to four children: Joann Bruce-Messerschmitt, Nicholas Anthony DiMarco, Christopher Bernard D'Agostino (deceased), and Zachary Christopher Gilbert. Throughout her life, she had a passion for reading and writing. She always kept herself well informed of current events. After her retirement, she shared her poetry with her family during the Christmas season. Throughout her marriage, she shared a love of sports with her husband, Robert M Gosner, Sr. She shared the study of family history with her son, Robert M. Gosner, Jr.. Johan "Martin" Gosner, a Palatine German, emigrated in June 1731, and arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on 15 May 1732. The Gosner family pedigree has remained in the Philadelphia area for eleven generations to her grandson, Robert "Matthew" Gosner. She especially enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, Brent, Devon, Robert "Matthew", and Max. Through the years, she attended many social events with her daughter, Karen Leslie Fertels. She promoted the education and success of her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of the many accomplishments of her son, Robert Jr. and daughter, Karen Leslie. She enjoyed spending time with and promoting the success of her two brothers, Anthony "Sonny" and Tommy, and her two sisters, Marilee and Judy. She was survived by her husband and two children. She was a devoted wife to Robert M. Gosner, Sr., for 56 years. She was a loving mother to son. Robert M. Gosner, Jr., of Newtown Square, PA and to daughter, Karen Leslie Fertels (Scott) of Gladwyne, PA. She was also survived by her four grandchildren: Brent J. Byrne; Devon A. Byrne; Robert "Matthew" Gosner; and Maxwell D. Fertels. In addition, she was survived by her brothers: Anthony "Sonny" D'Agostino, and Thomas B. D'Agostino (Ella); and by her sisters: Marilee Fitzgerald (Dennis), and Judy Ann Gilbert (Joseph). She was predeceased by her parents the late Anthony D'Agostino and Marine Cichetti. On her father's side, she was predeceased by her grandparents the late Tito "Tony" D'Agostino and Lucia DiCroce. On her mother's side, she was predeceased by her grandparents the late Marino Cichetti and Julia Longo. She was predeceased by her step-grandfather, Vincent James DiMarco, the second husband of her grandmother, Julia Longo. Throughout her life, she maintained a loving relationship with the entire DiMarco family and their descendants. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012, [ 10:00 - 11:00 AM ] at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Mass to commence at 11:00 AM. Followed by Inurnment at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road (Route 320), Springfield, PA 19064. To be followed by a luncheon, at Aronimick Country Club, 3600 St. Davids Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
