Mary Ellen Fanning Obituary

Mary Ellen Fanning (nee Floyd), of Chester, PA passed away on November 29, 2013.
Born May 18, 1939, she was the daughter of John Clark Floyd and Elona Beatrice Floyd (nee Erhardt), both deceased. She was also predeceased by her sister, Donna Hoffman.
Mary Ellen grew up in Camp Hill, PA and was a graduate of Camp Hill High School, Ohio State University, where she majored in Medical Technology (Kappa Delta sorority) and Durham University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Archaeology (Durham, UK).
She was elected to the Haverford Township School Board, where she served for 6 years and she worked for many years as a dental assistant and office safety coordinator.
Mary Ellen was an enthusiastic artisan and a former member of the Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers. She was the meeting coordinator for the 1985 Mid-Atlantic Fiber Assoc (MAFA) conference.
She raised her family in Bryn Mawr, PA (Haverford Township), with her former husband, Herbert Henry Fanning, to whom she was married for 26 years.
She is survived by her children; Alan Scott Fanning of Carrboro, NC, John David Fanning of West Chester, PA and Amy Lynn Huff of Kingwood, TX; and 3 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her greet her family 5:00-6:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2013 and to her Memorial Service 6:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300.
