Michael P. Betzala Obituary
Michael P. "Mick" Betzala Sr., 58 Havertown Resident Michael P. Betzala Sr., died suddenly on December 23, 2012. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Margaret "Peg" (nee Fahey) Betzala. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Clement Grade School and attended West Catholic High School where he was a member of the football team. After he graduated in 1972 he remained as an assistant coach for several years. Mick continued his education in finance while working for PECO for 26 years. He then worked at AIG Insurance Company for several years. Most recently he worked as a school bus driver for Haverford Township, a job which he found most rewarding. The children who knew him as "Mr. Mick" gave him great joy and the parents appreciated his care and concern for the safety of their children. Mick was an avid fan of all Philadelphia professional, college and high school sports teams. He was a loyal spectator at his children's sports events, he never missed a game. Mick genuinely loved people and took an interest in everyone he met. Those who appreciated him found a true friend. He will be greatly missed! Survivors: Mick was a devoted father who gave his "all" trying to maintain a close relationship with his children Laura and Michael, Jr.; also survived by his siblings Tom, Jack, Marygene, Joe, Bob, Dan and Terry; many nieces and nephews. His brother Chis passed away in March, 2012. Visitation / Service: Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Friday January 4, 2013 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Manoa & Shelbourne Rds., Havertown, PA 19083 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
