Richard J. Francisco

Richard J. Francisco, Sr. Richard J. Francisco, Sr., of Springfield, PA died peacefully at the age of 94 on December 31. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, he relocated in 1953 with his wife Eugenia (Jean) to Colonial Park. After many years as a tool and dye maker for Baldwin, Lima Hamilton, he was recruited in 1964 to work for ZEKS- Compressed Air Systems, a leading innovator and manufacturer of compressed air treatment products. He was directly responsible for choosing Belgiumas the site for a foreign manufacturing facility and in 1972 was promoted to General Manager. He is business ventures expanded to include the former Kingsway Inn Restaurant in Malvern, PA. Although he would claim he couldn't tell a daisy from a dandelion he partnered with Bernadette Dougherty to establish Edgemont Flower Shop in Media, PA. Since 1972, the full service florist continues to proudly serve the local community. Ever the sports enthusiast, he managed to find time to coach Colonial Park Boys Club and to start a local bowling team. An avid golfer well into his 80's, he frequented Edgemont Country Club and was most proud of a 'hole in one" at Pickering Valley Golf Club. He was predececed by his beloved wife of 50 years. Survivors: Three sons, Richard J. Jr., Gregory Joseph and their wives, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Sunday, after 4p.m., O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064 and Monday, after 9:30a.m., in Holy Cross Church, Springfield, PA. Funeral Mass: Monday 10:30a.m. Interment: SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
