Richard Gardner Jr. Obituary

Richard Neal Gardner Jr., age 88, of Bryn Mawr, professional horticulturist, landscape designer, CEO of Montgomery Nurseries, and WWII Army Veteran, died Friday, December 14, 2012.
Born February 4, 1924, in Havertown, he was the son of the late Richard N. Sr. and Mildred (Caulm) Gardner. Richard's interest in horticulture started at an early age under the guidance of his father, Richard Gardner Sr.
This interest led him to study horticulture at Penn State University and later join and grow the family business, which was started by his grandfather in 1892. His interest in plants lasted a lifetime.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John and William; and a granddaughter, Michelle Gardner.
Survivors: Richard's three sons, Richard N. III of West Chester, Robert of Chester Springs and Michael of King of Prussia; daughter, Diane Patrick of Thurmont, Md.; three grandchildren, Robert Gardner Jr., Robert Patrick and Lauren Gardner; two great-grandchildren, Rocco and Veronica; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Relatives and friends may pay respects Wednesday, December 19 from 9 to 10:20 a.m. at St. John Neumann R.C. Church, 380 Highland Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Service: A funeral Mass will commence in the church at 10:30 a.m. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
