Thomas J. Friel

Thomas J. Friel Thomas J. Friel, 62 years old, died on Monday, August 12 of pancreatic cancer. A resident of Springfield since he was five years old, Tommy attended Saint Francis of Assisi School, Cardinal O'Hara High School and Saint Joseph's College. Tommy served as a bartender at the Rose Tree Inn, Rose Tree, and Duke's Tavern, Springfield. An avid golfer, horse racing enthusiast and lover of fine dining, he was a great friend to his many buddies throughout the world. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Sabina and Bernard Friel and his brother, Bernard Friel. Survivors: His brothers: James and Kevin Friel; his sisters: Ann Friel and Patricia Toner and his sister-in-law, Patricia Friel. In addition, he is survived by eight nephews and two nieces and eight great nieces and one great nephew. Funeral Services: Family and friends may call on Friday evening, August 16, beginning at 5:00pm, at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield. A short viewing will take place on Saturday morning, 17 August, at the church, from 9:00am to 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 9:30am. Burial: Interment will follow immediately at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
