Alfred L. Johnson Obituary
Alfred L. Johnson, 69 Alfred L. Johnson, 69, of Wallingford, died October 21, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Havertown. Born in Philadelphia, Alfred was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. He was a member of the class of 1962 at Darby Colwyn High and received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education from Cheyney University. He was a teacher for the Darby Township and Southeast Delco School District for 35 years, retiring in 2003. During his career, he served as a principal but most of his service was as a sixth grade teacher at Delcroft Elementary. Alfred was an amateur photographer, who also enjoyed music, cooking, and traveling. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Alfred's best times were spent with family, coaching his sons' NPAA teams and he never missed a soccer game or practice. He was a board member for A Better Chance-Strat Haven, The Rose Tree Day School and Corner House. Alfred resided in Wallingford with his family for almost 35 years. Survivors: His wife of 45 years, Anita (nee Whitaker) Johnson, his sons, Michael (Madeline) Johnson and Andrew (Amy) Johnson; his brothers, James T., Jr., Sidney O., and Peter L. Johnson; his sisters, Joyce S. Johnson-Brown, Mary Rita, and Beatrice S. Johnson and 2 grandchildren. Services: A memorial Service will be held 1p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26th, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County, 145 W. Rose Tree Rd., Media.
