Bruce Bottomly Obituary
Bruce Bottomley Jr., D.D.S., 70 Of Havertown, PA Bruce Bottomley Jr., D.D.S., 70, passed away on July 26, 2012 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse. Born in and raised on Heather Road in Upper Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Bruce and Grace Bottomley (nee Armstrong). Dr. Bottomley was a member of J.R. Miller Presbyterian Church, now Crossroads Community Church, for 65 years. He attended Cardington-Stonehurst Grammar School, Beverly Hills Junior High School and Upper Darby High School. He received his B.S. degree from Albright College, where he was a member of Kappa Upsilon Phi Fraternity, and Temple Dental School where he received his D.D.S. degree. He practiced dentistry for 48 years at 145 N. Eagle Road in Havertown. He was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1973 and retired as Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was a member of the Masons Community Lodge 744 F&AM; a member of the Shriners, Lulu Temple for 25 years and also a member of the Noble Shriners International. Dr. Bottomley was a 26 year member of the Benjamin Franklin Consistery and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He joined the St. Alban Commandary, Knights of Templar, in1974 where he was Commander. Dr. Bottomley was a Cub Master with the Boy Scouts of America from 1977 to 1980. He was a merit badge counselor for dentistry. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of Llanerch Country Club from 1973 to the present. He joined the Yacht Club of Sea Isle in 1973, where he held the position of Commodore in 1978 and in 1990 and was also the Regatta Chairman for 10 years. He was a member of the Royal Arch in West Chester, PA. Dr. Bottomley was pre-deceased by his wife Marlene Scola Bottomley. Survivors: His sons Bruce III and Guy Bottomley; his grandchildren Kevin and McKenna; his devoted companion Doris Herrlin.
