Cynthia "Cindy" L. Boyer Cynthia "Cindy" L. Boyer, resident of Brookhaven, Pa., passed away on February 24, 2014, at the age of 59, after a courageous 5 year fight against lung cancer. She was a 1973 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Penn State University in 1977 and a Master's of Science degree in Nursing in 1983 from the University of Pennsylvania. Due to her support of her fellow patients and families, she received the "Cancer Survivor of the Year" award in 2007 from Crozer Chester Medical Center. Her motto was always to have gratitude for our blessings and to encourage others to fight for healing. This year she was awarded the Penns Wood Chapter of Oncology Nursing Society Presidential Educational Award established and named in her honor for her many years of dedication and support. Cindy was a member of the Middletown Presbyterian Church in Media, Pennsylvania. Cindy was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania to Dorothy Ann Pickering Boyer and the late Charles Edward Boyer, Jr. Survivors: Her mother, brothers, James C. Boyer, Captain, USN (Ret.), Dr. Charles E. Boyer, III and by her sister, Dorothy A. Boyer Foran. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Services: Viewing will be held Friday, February 28th, from 4-7 p.m., at the Hugh B. Hughes Funeral Home on Wyoming Avenue in Forty- Fort, PA. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1st, 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Memorial Shrine Cemetery in Carvertown, PA. In lieu of flowers: Cindy has asked that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Plaza, Newark, Delaware 19711.
