Donald Herman Adam, 78, died at Conway Medical Center on December 1, 2012. Born March 11, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA to Herman and Frances Adam, he was a 1952 graduate of Media High School prior to his service in the United States Army, from which he received an honorable discharge in May 1957. He was a proud graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962. He resided in Bradford, PA, Metuchen, NJ, Big Flats, NY, North Syracuse, NY, Marion, IN, Signal Hill, CA, and Rock Hill, SC in his employment as a quality control executive with a variety of glass and aluminum container companies including Corning, Inc., Thatcher Glass, Carrier Corp. and American National Can until retiring to Little River, SC in 1993. Don was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach where he was an enthusiastic bass vocalist in the Choir; he was also an avid sports fan and golfer.
Survivors include his daughter Diana Adam of Rochester, NY; his son Donald Adam of Lafayette, LA; his oldest brother William Adam of Pensacola, FL; and his dear companion Catherine Hay Smith of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Pre-deceased by his older brother Richard.
Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 6 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 14th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Visitation: The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, 65 E. Hwy 90, Little River, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Building Fund of the Trinity United Methodist Church are welcome at Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 373, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597.
