Edward Spotts Obituary

Edward M. Spotts, 88 Of Muncy Valley, PA, formerly of Aston. Edward M. Spotts, 88, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center of complications from pneumonia. Born July 4, 1922 in Marcus Hook, he had been a longtime resident of Aston, before moving to Muncy Valley, PA. Graduate Boothwyn High School Class of 1940. He worked as a First Class Mechanic at Sun Oil Refinery, Marcus Hook for 30 years until his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army 299 Port Battalion and landed at Utah Beach on D Day +1 unloading ships to provide needed supplies to the troops as they advanced. He was the last battalion to leave Utah Beach as they followed the troops further into France. Mr. Spotts regularly attended the Aston Presbyterian Church and was a member of the St. Andrews Group. He was a member of the Sun Oil Honor Club. Son of the late Anna Catherine (nee Jackson) and Edward Moyer Spotts of Danville, PA; brother of the late Mae Bridenbaugh who died last December at the age of 98. Survivors: Wife of 67 years Margaret J. (Webb) Spotts; son Martin E. (Ann) Spotts; grandchildren Marci and Brian; great-grandchild James; niece Edna and her children David and Terri and their children David, Devyn, Stephanie, Mitchell and Mathios. Funeral Service 11 AM Tuesday, at The Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte 352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA. Visitation after 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment Mt Hope Cemetery, Aston Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association, P.O.
