Flora Purita Skelley Obituary
Flora Purita Pujida Skelley Resident of Secane Flora Purita Pujida Skelley passed away in peace on April 3, 2013 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. She was born in Cebu Philippines on May 5, 1932. Purita was predeceased by husband, William J. Skelley on June 17, 2010, son Paul Agustin (stillborn), parents Patricia Ruiz Urgel and Agustino Mondejar Pujida and brother Gregorio U. Pujida. She graduated from Abellana Vocations High School and attended CIT - Cebu Institute of Technology on a working student scholarship but did not get her degree. Purita worked with the then Philippine Drug House, a medical drug distributor in the islands. She was active with YCW - Young Christian Workers with the tutorship of Mons. Fred Krekeinbeck, the late Mons. Oscar Villamore and Mons. Tudtud, all in Cebu Philippines. After six years of correspondence with William, he went to Cebu and married Purita on October 7, 1970. They adopted Purita's nephew Gregorio and niece Barbara. When the children were old enough she went into Volunteer work with ODP - Orderly Departure Program for Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees once a week at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Purita was a lunch mom in Amosland Elementary School for more than 12 years and volunteered for years at then Springfield Tri County Hospital and Broomall Presbyterian Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of GFWC - General Federation of Women's Clubs with special project on Operation Smile. In February 1998 she traveled with the Medical Mission to the Philippines. Purita was past president of GFWC Delaware County, Woman's Club of Aldan and Glenolden and member GFWC Sharon Hill. She belongs to WPCC - William Penn Chorus and One Voice choir of the Archdioceses of Philadelphia, and was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima, Secane. PA. Survivors: son, Gregorio P. Skelley, daughter Barbara (Ruben) Garcia, grandsons Michael William Norton and Isaac Joel Garcia, sisters, Angelina Manubag, Alicia Corominas, Anastacia Saptitanan and Anesia Pujida, brothers, Agustino Pujida, Jr. and Miguel Pujida, sisters-in-law Kathleen (Charles) Felix, Mary Ellen Ritter, Rita Billingsley and Sheila Skelley, brothers-in-law James Skelley and Jerome (Rannie) Skelley, and loving nephews and nieces. Service/Mass: Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday, after 10:00 a.m., in the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Secane followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment: Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Elmira, NY on Thursday, 11:00 am. Contributions: Crozer Regional Cancer Center, Vivacqua Pavilion, Ste. #341, 1 Medical Center Blvd., Upland, PA 19013.
