Philip Robert Zane, Sr. "Phil", 74, Philip Robert Zane, Sr. "Phil", 74, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Phil was born in South Philadelphia on January 26, 1939. He attended South Philadelphia High for Boys and continued on to serve four years with the U.S. Air Force. He married Marie Jean Corvino on November 27, 1965; they were married for 47 years. Phil worked as a union carpenter for Local 845 and is a 50 year member. He was a master of his craft and a mentor to many. He loved his family and friends and will be missed. Phil enjoyed the Philadelphia Eagles, cooking, gardening, woodwork and creating an open and inviting home for those he loved. Phil was an award-winning light-weight boxer while serving in the Air Force. Phil is preceded in death by his parents Margaret (Galbraith) and Philip G. Zane, his brother Jack Zane, his sister-in-law Pat Zane, his brother-in-law Jack Bell, his nephew Michael Zane and niece Sallyann Bell. Survivors: His wife, Marie Zane of Springfield; three daughters, Dawn Gryn of Springfield, Michele (Mike) Cunnane of Collierville, TN, Sallyann Zane of Springfield; a son, Philip Zane, Jr. of Springfield and eight grandchildren who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Bell of Glenolden, PA, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his companion, Buddy. Visitation: Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Wednesday, March 27th, 6 PM, O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA. Funeral Service: Thursday, March 28th, 10:30AM, O'Leary Funeral Home. Burial: at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Broomall, PA. In lieu of flowers: memorial donations may be given to the SPCA on Sandy Bank Road, Media. The family of Phil wishes to thank the many loyal friends that have brought joy and laughter to Phil's life. Your generous love and friendship have carried Phil and his family through many difficult times and is truly appreciated.
