Sophie Oreszczak Obituary
Sophie Oreszczak Sophie Oreszczak (Zdun) of Sierra Vista, Arizona who recently was feted by family and friends on her 100th birthday, passed away on September 21st, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chester PA on June 27, 1912, Sophie was the daughter of Albert and Mary Zdun. In 1929 she married Andrew Oreszczak with whom she had four children. A deeply religious person, a highlight of Sophie's week was going to Sunday Mass even when in later life, she needed to use a wheelchair. Her strength and faith were unsurpassed. As she approached her final days, her one consistent response to both family and caregivers, was "Thank you, God bless you, and I love you all." Being a mother was Sophie's most cherished role especially to her special needs daughter, Bernice, who died at the age of thirteen. Sophie attended St Hedwig Elementary School and became adept at both the reading and writing of Polish and English. At the age of 62, she went to LPN School and became a pharmacy technician at Crozier Hospital in Chester, PA. She loved crocheting, knitting, cooking, and baking and many family members and friends have magnificent mementos of her handiwork. Predeceased by her husband Andrew, her twin brothers, Stanley and Joseph Zdun, and brother-in-laws Walter, John, Ben and Stanley Oreszak. Survivors: her two daughters, Marie Risher and her husband Fred and Jeannette Oreszak of Sierra Vista, Arizona, a son Gene Oreszak and his wife Leona of Framingham, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Leonard Rowles of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Janet Dayhoff and her husband Jim of Glenwood, Maryland, and Fred Risher Jr. of Hollywood, California; a sister Stella Mckamey of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Juanita and Jane Zdun of Trainer Pennsylvania as well as many nephews and nieces. Services to celebrate Sophie will be: Wake: Friday, Sept. 28, after 6:00 P.M., and Saturday, Sept. 29, 8-9:00 A.M., Kaniefski-Kendus-D'Anjollel Memorial Home, Trainer, PA Funeral: 10:00 A.M., St Hedwig's Church, Chester, PA Followed by Interment, Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Chester, PA
