Theresa Cherniuh Obituary
Theresa Cherniuh, 81 Theresa Cherniuh (nee Spiessl), 81 of Claymont, DE died peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2013 at her son Michael's home in Garnet Valley, PA. Born, raised and educated in Wolfsegg, Bavaria Germany, she immigrated to the US in 1951 where she became a resident of Chester, PA until 1959 then moving to Aston, PA. In 1977 she moved to Claymont, DE where she lived for 36 years. Theresa worked at Aldon Rug Mills and also for the Sisters of St. Francis in Aston for 15 years. She was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church where she was a volunteer, making pierogies for the church fund raisers. She enjoyed cooking and sewing but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mom was a woman filled with such strength and a unique, witty humor, that enriched all of our lives and everyone with whom she came in contact. She was fluent in multiple languages including English, German and Ukrainian. Theresa is preceded in death by husband, Zenon Cherniuh who died in 2008, granddaughter, Michelle Lee Hrischuk who died in 2011, 2 former husbands, Alex Hrischuk and Nicholas Zapotoczny, her Mother Margareta (nee Haider), Father Max Spiessl and 4 siblings. Survivors: 4 children, John, Eugene and Michael (Jennifer) Hrischuk and Donna McDevitt, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and relatives in Germany. Visitation: Friday, 8:45 AM, at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, Pa. Service of Christian Burial: Friday, 11:00AM, at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3015 W. Third St., Chester, PA 19013. Interment: Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
