Threston Charles " Lefty" Roots, age 87, Past Master and Worshipful Deputy at Large Emeritus Threston Charles "Lefty" Roots, age 87, of Chester, PA went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Salem, NJ to the late Robert Roots and Emma Banks Roots and was raised in Woodstown, New Jersey where he was a graduate of Woodstown High School where he was a great football player. Mr. Roots worked as a Processor at Allied Chemical in Claymont, DE for over 35 years, retiring in 1986 and served in the United States Army during World War II. In 1965, he joined Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of The Deacon Samuel Mathis Feeding Ministry. Mr. Roots was a member of Franklin Lodge #58 F.A.M P.H.A., where he served as Past Master, District Deputy Grand Master of the 2nd District, member of Omega Chapter #12, Imperial Commandry #12, Royal and Select Masters Council #8, Past Illustrious Master, Past Commander in Chief of Charles E. Gordon Consistory #65, 33rd Degree Mason SGIG, past Potentate of Minaret Temple #174, Imperial Deputy of Desert of Pennsylvania Shrines. For eight years 'Lefty' coached at Chester Youth Baseball, and was a regular supporter of Chester Biddy Basketball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roots was also pre-deceased by his brothers Purcell Roots and Edward Roots. Survivors: His wonderful memory will be cherished by his loving wife Rebecca H. Roots, 2 sons: Elmo Roots and Stefan Roots, 1 sister: Anna Mae Pierce, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law: Linwood "Jackie" Hicks and York "Jr." Hicks, 1 sister-in-law: Dorothy Harris, host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Service: Thursday, March 28, 2013, 11:30 am, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1616 W. 2nd St., Chester. Viewing: 8:00 am, Masonic Service will begin at 10:00 am. No viewing after the eulogy. Interment: Lawn Croft Cemetery - Linwood, Pa. There will also be a viewing on Wednesday March 27. 2013, 5:00 8:00 pm, at Franklin Lodge #58, 2815 W. 3rd St., Chester. Arrangements: Earl L.
