We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Hiddemen. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. We will always remember Mr. Hiddemen fondly for all of the hard work he gave to the Glenolden swim club along with the years of dedication to the swim and dive teams. You could always count on Mr. Hiddemen (and Mrs. Hiddemen as well) when it came to the Glenolden swim community. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
Love and prayers,
Mark Czymek and family

My prayers go out to Audrey, and the rest of the family, We all need a time for tears, not for the one who is now at peace in Heaven, but for ourselves as we realize that things will never be the same. I know from experience as I lost Bert (Audrey's brother) 15 months ago. May God in His tender mercy, comfort those whose hearts are hurting.

How well I remember Mr. Hiddemen's smile and help for one of my first jobs at the Glenolden Swim Club snack bar. I know he will be dearly missed by his family. May God's comfort be yours during this time.

Bill was my Tennis partner and instructor (I don't think I ever beat him), my insurance man, fellow judge at Widener University and most importantly, my good friend. And of course, I cannot say enough about how he touched all our lives with swimming and diving at Glenolden Swim Club and the Chester Y. He was always encouraging athletics and competition. He encouraged many of us to do winter swimming that made us stronger and more confidant. I rode that wave of confidence to continue swimming and diving in college and by doing so, was able to succeed in my business career. Bill’s clever ideas to develop the Meet of Champions, the Paul Christiansen Diving Championships, the Relay Carnivals and Mini Meets at Glenolden Pool will be remembered by many in Delaware County as something very exciting and special. It brought us all together and made Glenolden Swim Club something important. Bill inspired something in me and I will always be thankful for all he did. I see him relaxing now in heaven sitting back on a pool chair with a cigar in his mouth, a big smile on his face, a stopwatch and a lineup sheet in one hand and his tennis racquet close at hand ready for action.

I do not remember Uncle Bill ever raising the volume or intensity of his voice. His soft voice would tell us how proud he was of his family. His enthusiasim for Glen-Nor was reflected in the stories he told of (usually sport) school friends, events and later of the alumni with whom he remained connected. The activity of swimming was a shared activity that he and his sister (my mom) engaged in with numerous cousins in Palm, PA where they spent many summers. Swimming was viewed as a very necessary skill rather than just a sport. Both Uncle Bill and my mom in different methods encouraged and planned how their children and grandchildren could enjoy and gain from knowing how to swim. Uncle Bill and Aunt Audrey were present at all the important events in not only their immediate family, but they traveled to events north to weddings, and family gatherings.
It is amazing to think how often we gathered together as a big extended family considering all the miles which separate us. Uncle Bill checked on his sister Katherine after her husband Guy passed away. If she did not cancel the Doctor's appointment, he would help take her to the office that is unless she changed her mind as they exited the door. The picture selected above really reflects a proud, dedicated, fun loving person. His smile is so broad which is a wonderful way for us to remember him. We will see you all at the service. I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Hiddeman's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I want to thank him for his dedication to the Glenolden Swim Club and the Delco Swim League. It is because of Mr. Hiddeman that so many swimmers can look back and say "I swam in the Meet fo Champions" I thank you for that memory!

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's (Mr. Hiddemen to me) passing. I remember him from the many swim meets and also I was his assistant coach at Brookhaven Swim Club. He was a kind and a very funny man. Summer swimming was very funny at times. My prayers are with the family.
