William J. Hilferty Devoted Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather William J. Hilferty, on March 6, 2013, age 82, a resident of Norwood, PA for 50 years, passed away March 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer.
William served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War.He was employed as a welder for General Motors in Wilmington, DE, retiring after 38 years of service.William loved summers at the shore and was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He was the loving son of the late James and Marie McGehean Hilferty Survivors: Beloved husband of Dolores Hilferty (nee Maffei); devoted father of Diane Finnerty, Donna Donnelly (Marty) and William J. Hilferty, Jr. (Bernadette); dear pop-pop of Dana, Denene, Darra, Marty (Sallyann), Joseph, Jaclyn, Billy Joe and Holly Anne; great-grandfather of Dex and Wyatt; dear brother of Anne Cooper, Mary Runner, Francis Hilferty, and the late James and Edward Hilferty; and dear brother-in-law of Maureen Hilferty.Service/Mass: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass Tuesday, 11:00 am, in the Church of St. Gabriel, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA 19074 where friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 am.
