William Patrick Clancy Obituary
William Patrick "Bill" Clancy Longtime Norwood Resident William Patrick "Bill" Clancy passed away on January 15, 2013. Bill was born and raised in S.W. Philadelphia where he was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. He served honorably in the Korean War as a Corporal after which he met and married his loving wife Nancy in 1955. In 1971 he moved his family to Norwood. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Bridget (nee Furey) Clancy, along with brothers Jack and Danny, and sisters Peggy (Owen) Forrest, Ellen (Joe) Lawson and Susan (Harry) Moore. Bill worked at General Electric for 41 years. He was president of the Norwood Athletic Club in the 1970's and 1980's where he enjoyed coaching football. He was a longtime member of St. Gabriel parish where he served as church sexton. Bill loved the beach and traveling. He spent every summer with his family at the Jersey Shore and traveled to Ireland and Alaska. Bill was also an active member of the Norwood 4th of July Committee. Survivors: Loving wife Nancy of 57 years. His 3 children Patrick, Kevin & Lizann, and their spouses. Grandchildren: Christopher, Jillian, Gianna, Kristen, Lauren & Courtney. His sister Mary (Tom) Bristow. Many cousins, nieces & nephews. Service/Mass: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday after 9:30am at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am in the church of St. Gabriel, Norwood. Friends may call at Cavanagh's Monday eve 6-8pm. Burial: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery Contributions: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to St. Gabriel Memorial Fund, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood PA 19074 or Norwood Athletic Club, P.O. Box 62, Norwood PA 19074
