Harry E. Rupertus Obituary
Harry E. Rupertus, 87, Harry E. Rupertus, 87, of Ridley Park, PA, passed away peacefully at Ambler Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on February 23, 2014. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Lydia (MacDonald) Rupertus and his son Harry F. Rupertus. He was also predeceased by his parents Ebert B. Rupertus and Elsie Drake Loisch. Harry was born and raised in Glenolden, PA and lived in Ridley Park, PA for almost 60 years. He worked as Carpenter/Contractor. Harry could always be found tinkering around at his work bench as well as helping his children with their home construction projects. He built the family vacation home in Wildwood, NJ in 1960. Harry served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater LCT Flotilla where he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Theater Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon. He is a member of Killen-Miles American Legion Post 87, Aston, PA Survivors: Harry is survived by his two daughters Deborah Valerio of Ridley Township and Linda Reynolds (Patrick) of St. Petersburg, FL.; his grandchildren, Harry E. Rupertus II (Cathy), Mathew Rupertus, Nicole V. MacDonald (Andrew), Stephanie V. Macie (Adam), Dennis E. Valerio (Mariel Bryan), Jessie C. Maddux (Brian), Pamela L. Ward (Lucas), and Jaime M. Ward (Andrew); and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Eileen Moore Rupertus and son-in-law, Dennis N. Valerio. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Ambler Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last 6 years were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. A funeral service: will be held honoring Harry at 12 noon on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home located at 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, where friends may call after 11 AM. Burial: will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collingdale.
