Leonard C. Johnson Jr. Obituary
Leonard C. Johnson, Jr., 65 Army Veteran Leonard C.W. Johnson, Jr., passed away on March 5, 2014 at Kindred Hospital, Havertown, PA. He was the son of the late Leonard A. Johnson, Sr., and Sarah Katherine Kennard Johnson. He was born in Chester, attended Marcus Hook Elementary School and graduated from Media High School. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he sang on the Male Chorus and Senior Choir. He served his country in Viet Nam receiving two Purple Hearts and was honorably discharged from the US Army. He was employed for many years by the McManus Construction Company. He was a member of Linwood Lodge #87, F. &A.M. PHA, and the Chester Recreation League. He was predeceased by a sister Cheryl M. Bannister. Survivors: He is survived by 2 daughters Jacqueline Boyer, Vanessa Odom; 4 brothers William "Billy White Shoes" Johnson (Barbara), Dennis H. Johnson (Janet), John S. Johnson (Elizabeth), and Harry Turner (Trudy); 4 sisters, Ardella D. Kennard, Deborah A. McClendon (Gregory), Serena M. Johnson-Ghaznavi (Obie), and Denise L. Johnson; a brother in law Gary Bannister; aunt Mary Harper; special cousin Dwight Collins; special friend Bonnie Banks, a dear friend Shirley Odom, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Luke Community Christian Church, 4th & Central Ave., Chester, PA Viewing: 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM at the church. There will be a Masonic service beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment: Haven Memorial Cemetery, Chester Township, PA Arr: Catherine B. Laws Funeral Home
