James Edward Parker Obituary
James Edward Parker James Edward Parker, known as Uncle Jimmy by many, of Chestertown, MD, died on Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home. He was 69. Mr. Parker was born on January 12, 1945, in Darby, PA. He was the son of the late Edward R. and Marie P. McNeile Parker. He grew up in a section of Philadelphia, called The Meadows. Mr. Parker attended Bartram High School and Collingdale High School. He worked as an electrician for I.B.E.W in Chester Local #654 and retired in 2004. Mr. Parker then worked as a welder for his nephew at Parker Welding for a few years. A United States Army Veteran, he served in Vietnam with the 35th Artillery, an American-Australian-New Zealand Unit. Mr. Parker was awarded the Medal of Valor for his actions. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 47 years, Karen Detwiler Parker of Chestertown, MD, he is survived by two daughters, Debra Long and her husband Terry of Elizabethtown, PA, and Bonnie Parker and her fiance Marvin Johnson of Lancaster, PA; a grandson and buddy, James E. Reilly; three granddaughters, Sarah and Katie Long and Abby Walton; a sister, Marion Hemphill and her husband Boyd of Montgomery, AL; and a brother, Edward R. Parker and his wife Pat of Christiana, PA. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters: Jane Parker and Ruth Ann Parker and a brother Thomas W. Parker, Sr. Service: Will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, 12:00 noon at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, Maryland, were relatives and friends are invited to the viewing from 11:00-12:00. A reception will follow in the reception center. In lieu of flowers: Contributions may be made to the , P. O. Box 174, Chestertown, Maryland 21620 or to the Queen Anne's County Emergency Services, 107 N. Liberty St., Centreville, MD 21617.
